Wrapping up June

I feel like I haven't even been home this month, although I know that would be a lie.  Its just been going non-stop since school was out.

Daniel went out of town for several days and Grant was a great helper.  He thinks it so neat when he gets to hold Reagan.  She looks little scared in this picture...
Grant's 3rd year of swimming lessons started mid-June.
Vivian took the same class with us, this is her first year.
This is Grant and his friend Corbin.  They have been in the same class every year.
Reagan also got some pool time.  She enjoyed her first swim in a big pool.
This past week, we also prepared for a garage sale. We sold tons of glassware. So much, in fact, that we just laid it on the lawn and hosed it off.  Ginger, my parents cat, didn't know what to think about it.
Grant sold drinks at the garage sale and I told him he could keep all the profits.  I kept trying to teach him the basics of marketing, but he wouldn't listen.  But when business started to pick up, he yelled "Drinks for sale!"  until we had to tell him to stop!  He made just enough to buy the toy he wanted.
He was proud of his money, that we kept in this coffee can.  As you can see, he had grips of steel on it!

The fun is just beginning

Aren't these two cute?

Wait until you hear them fight like brother and sister.  Vivian came over for the day and at one point I heard, "You stop it!"  "No, you stop it" "No, you stop it!"  Back and forth this went on for a good 15 rounds!

That's when I decided it was time for a project:  blueberry muffins

We took turns adding ingredients.
Grant was my stirrer.
Vivian put the cupcake liners in the muffin tin for me.
Afterward we headed outdoors and let them kids play.  Reagan got to sit in a pool for the first time.
This bathing beauty rather enjoyed herself!

My Knights In Shining Armor

This week, we decided to celebrate Father's Day a bit early.  My husband is a great father.  I found him like this yesterday, it made me laugh.  It was only 10am!

That night we took Grant to something "BIG".

We went to Medieval Times.  He was very excited to be there.  He had caught Daniel watching a video of it online and even mentioned how he wanted to go there (while we were actually on the way there!).
That sword was a hit.  And according to the price of it, it should be!

This was our early Father's Day celebration.  All Dads got in free.  So this was also a gift to parents.  My father had always wanted to go as well.

Here is the king waiting to give someone the knighthood.

The only hint I gave to Grant before hand is that we would see horses.  All of Medieval Times' horses are so beautiful!

During the feast, you are not to use utensils.  My Dad cheated and used this coffee stirrer as his straw!

We cheered for the red knight....
...and therefore sat in the red section.

When Grant woke up in the morning, he was already telling Reagan all about it and let her know we would take her when she got older.  I can already see Grant will grow up to be a great father as well!

The Biggest Loser

After Grant got the 'no break' sign for his arm, we decided to get back to t-ball.  There was a make up game early on a Saturday.  The heat has started to roll into Texas for the summer, so I decked out Reagan in her summer clothes.

Right after this, she proceed to poop all over her Daddy and her adorable outfit. I missed Grant batting but after the game he was in tears.  He complained of his arm being sore.  We decided that it was time to sans the t-ball for this season.  There was only 2 games left anyhow.  Our team never won a game.  Hence the title of this one, "The Biggest Loser".

I did get some awesome pictures of him out on the field one night though. thanks to my sister's Nikon.

This one makes me laugh. He tried his hardest to slide into home after watching all the other boys do it.  At least I know he's braver than I am!

Celebrate Good Times....Come On!

Beauty in the Common Things: cooler weather.  I hate Texas weather and it seems unseasonably cool.  Blessings!

Listen In: My son watching "Peppa Pig".  Why does he enjoy British cartoons the most?  He kept calling people "Cheeky Rascals" and I finally realized he got it from this show. What Texan says "Cheeky Rascal"?
View from the Kitchen Window: Well currently its dark, but if it happened to be light outside, I would see 1 million tree trimming trucks that have taken over our neighborhood.  Since the storms earlier last month messed with the trees and the electric lines, the electric company has hired a tree trimming company to come through and clean up any hazards.  They've butchered many trees in our neighborhood.
Dinner Plans: We celebrated the beginning of summer with dinner out with my parents.

Reasons to Celebrate!!!!!!!

Celebration #1

Grant does NOT have broken arm (see previous post).  He went in to get his splint off and a cast put on and the orthopedic doctor said there was no fracture at all.  That was certainly a shock.  I asked God to heal him quickly but WOW!  I think Grant was a little disappointed.  I told him they probably had a camo print cast with his name on it.

Celebration #2

Grant didn't break his hand.  Yes, I said it.  3 days after Grant supposedly fracture his arm, he got his hand slammed in the car door.  It was his hand on his 'good' arm.  It was quite bruised and awful looking.  We thought it could possibly be broken as well. Turns out to be just sad looking and swollen.  I guess he'll be accident prone like me.  I have bruises on both thighs from running into the foot of my bed almost every night!

Celebration #3

School is out!  I've never been one to count down to summer.  I like routine, I don't like the heat, and I'm never ready for swimsuits.  But this summer, I'm ready!  Grant is such a little man and we have a busy summer ahead of us with him.  Looks like June is already packed to the brim.  July is filling up fast as well.  Reagan is hitting milestones left and right and I'm ready to be at home with her and kiss on those chubby cheeks.

Here is Grant on his last day, wearing the shirt his class made.

This was my 5th year in my current position, and 7th year teaching overall.  I had a very good year, with great kids.  I've never had this many kids tell me they appreciate me and give me notes and hugs.  I'm grateful for that.  They were very helpful when I was, as they say, "about to pop" with Reagan and I could tell they missed me while on maternity leave.  I even grew to like my banking class that I dreaded teaching at the beginning of the year.  Now THAT was the shocker!  Some days I stop to think about how I'm teaching at the school I attended and think, "What am I doing here?"  Then a kid says, "I couldn't have made it through this year without you."  Then I know what I'm doing and why God put me on this path.

Here is me at graduation.  I thought this was going to be my last day of high school.  Guess not!

I found this picture the other day in my old files.  We made this the first year I was teaching as part our Halloween decorations.  That picture is just about right.  The first year of teaching IS the hardest!

Celebration #4

Daniel and I just celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary earlier this week. For once, thanks for being hard headed.  You didn't let me go like I wanted you to.

"Breaking" Into Summer

This week was quite a long one. Daniel left Tuesday for the high school softball playoffs in Austin. This is the first year he was picked to go and he was so excited! He had been preparing for weeks now. He is on the far right of this picture of him and his crew.

I was doing pretty good playing single Mom until Friday. I got a call that Grant had fallen on the playground and they were worried about his arm. I rushed to get him and we went to the pediatrician's office.

He didn't seem in a lot of pain until they got to poking around on it. The doctor was worried about a fracture so my sister and I took him to the hospital.

He slept the whole way there and was a trooper. It was a children's hospital so they showed cartoons everywhere and treated him with extra special care.

He got a hairline fracture near his elbow. It was until they were putting the splint on that he got scared. We showed him old videos of himself on YouTube to distract him.

Once it was all over he was good to go. We have one week in this splint and then we will get a cast.

Here is Grant looking around the lobby.

Then we, of course, stopped for ice cream on the way home. Daniel drove in early to help with the madness.

So I guess our t-ball season is over early. However, Grant still wanted to go to the game to cheer on his team. Coach gave him the game ball!

I guess we will be doing a lot more relaxing than we thought this summer!
