Fancy Pants

My birthday celebration was put off due to sickness, and everything wasn't so much of a surprise but we still had a great night out.  This is the second year we went out for my birthday and his birthday and I think we should make it a tradition (wink, wink, Daniel!).

We started our night at Texas de Brazil, a Brazilian steakhouse.  A place where they deliver fresh cuts of meat to your table and keep it coming?  Daniel was in hog heaven!!

Here he is showing the card you flip up to say "Hey, keep that meat coming!"  I compare it to the flag at Poncho's buffet (with a trillion times better food)!  

 After dinner, we went to our main destination, the historic Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas.  This hotel was built in 1912 and is quite lavish.  I'm used to contemporary hotels, and this one had a different feeling to it. Daniel said when we get married again, we will do it here.  (yea, right!)

  I thought it was interesting how the front desk still housed all the old keys behind the desk.

Our room was on the top floor, the 22nd floor.  What a cool view of Reunion Tower from our room!

Daniel brought, what I call, "poor man's champagne".  We don't drink much at all and don't care for the tasteof wine or champagne.  I was embarassed to carry this thing around the lobby!  However, still very thoughtful of him.

In the morning, we ate in the hotel.  Here is Daniel drinking his $4 glass of milk.  Pinky up!

The breakfast was amazing, charizo and potatoes.

The Welch's Sparking Grape Juice was gone by mid morning, and that meant it was time it to head home.

Its nice to feel fancy every once in a while,

Bad storms rolled in while we were eating breakfast.  On the way home, we saw a blanket of white on the ground.  This wasn't snow, it was hail....TONS of it!  Rooftops were covered.  Here you can see some piling up on the side of the highway.

Spring Break 2013

Spring Break started out busy as soon as it began.  Warning, this post is full of adorable pictures!

To begin, we took a road trip to visit Daniel's family.  It was the first long trip for Reagan, and she did excellent!  Every girl needs her sunglasses and pacifier!

Grant has been seeing more and more Chuck E. Cheese commericals and has been asking to go.  There is one not too far from Daniel's family, so we had some afternoon fun there. Here is Grammy and Grant playing some video games.

Grant was all about the video games with guns, that gave no tickets.  Reagan and I spent most of our time trying to win him tickets.

On the way home, we stopped at the new Collin Street Bakery location.  Collin Street Bakery is world renowned for its fruit cakes.  They also have some awesome cookies.  Their home base bakery is located not too far from our home.  The bakery also boasts some nice gourmet sandwiches and clean bathrooms!  So it was a nice rest stop, something different from the normal Chick Fil A we get on the way.

Kids also get one free cookie.  Grant, however, talked the lady behind the counter into giving him a red velvet cupcake instead.



 

I just noticed the other day how long Grant's eyelashes are.  They weren't that way before!  He gets that from his Aunt Laura I believe.  What a lady killer!

 

On day 4, my nephew Fletcher came into town and we went to Dallas for a morning of 'edutainment'.

We met Laura and Vivian in downtown Dallas at the El Fenix restaurant.  Vivian loves her Uncle Daniel!

She also loves her baby cousin, Reagan.  She wanted to help give Reagan her lunch.

Next stop was the new Perot Musuem of Nature and Science.  It was super crowded since it was Spring Break, but we survived it and had some fun while making our way around in the sardine can!

There is no better way to end an outing than with some ice cream.  Those mini Blizzards are one of the best things!  Just the right size!

Fletcher proclaimed this was the best ice cream ever!

 

Later that night, Fletcher spend the night.  I had all 3 kids by myself.  They behaved well and we had a great time.  We went through 3 bags of popcorn and many drinks during "Wreck It Ralph".

On day 5, we took the kids to a local pizza place.

Each time the boys get together, I can see how they play better together!

Christine, Jacob, Eric, and baby Abigail met us for some pizza, and then we all went bowling aftewards.  Christine and I took turns holding the girls.

Daniel wanted to put Reagan on her first 'ride'.  She was not impressed.  

After the bowling alley, I got to see a new side of my son.  Fletcher called Reagan a milk monster (because she was covered in milk and thats what he calls his baby sister, Claire) and Grant came unglued.  He defended his sister's honor by saying, "She is MY baby sister and is NOT a monster.  That is NOT nice!"  I couldn't help but laugh. 

 

Fletcher headed back home on Day 6, and Daniel, Reagan, and I went to the Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History.  They currently have a Titanic artifact exhibit there.

There, we met my college friend, Shamekia.  I haven't seen her in quite some time and was excited to have her meet Reagan.



Not until the end of Spring Break did we actually get some rest...and boy! We all rested quite a bit!

We ended the week by attending an anniversary party for some friends of ours.  Reagan got all dressed up for the occasion.  She is now sitting in her Bumbo looking like a big girl!
