Daniel and I went to college in Nacogdoches at Stephen F. Austin State University. It has been over a year since we have visited. I was excited to return (and we are going again in a month...hence the title of part one). We had a wedding to attend and we wanted to squeeze in some favorite Nac spots in the mean time.
We got to Nacogdoches late Saturday evening. We went to visit with the bride to be and her fiancé for a bit and went to check in our hotel room, where the wedding was going to be located. Daniel went to take our belongings in the room while the kids and I visited and he quickly came back and said, "You need to come see the room." The carpet and the couch was covered in various colored stains. We quickly made reservations elsewhere. When we went to express our concerns they said that room was meant to be blocked off for 'deep cleaning' and was not supposed to be put out there for guests. Eww.....
After checking in at our new hotel, we finally got around to getting something to eat. I have had a craving for Chinese from this one local restaurant. It wasn't as great as I remembered, but I was also so worn out. Reagan enjoyed her Gerber meal either way!
Afterwards when the kids fell asleep in the car, we took a night tour of the campus. They had the Austin Building lit purple for the 90th birthday of SFA.
The next morning we met our friend Anna and her kids Bryanna and Nolan at the local farmers market.
There was a really neat petting zoo that Grant could have stayed all day in.
Personally, I was fond of the tortoise.
Reagan didn't get to join in, but she enjoyed watching and feeling the nice cool weather!
Afterwards, Grant enjoyed a snow cone.
His teeth, gums and lips were bright red. I chased him around to get a picture. This is the shot I got.
We then we back on campus for some shopping. Grant tried on all the hats. He came out with some goodies of his own.
That evening was the wedding. Reagan had missed her afternoon nap and wouldn't have any part of it so Daniel sat outside with her as to not to disturb the wedding. Grant was such a big boy and sat by himself during the ceremony and watched me at the front. Shamekia, the bride, was my RA at SFA and lived across the hall from me. I remember that we had so much in common when we met. We clicked, became workout buddies, and the rest is history. Congratulations, you looked beautiful!
Reagan finally got her nap out and we were able to enjoy the evening.
Grant danced up a storm. I don't know where he comes up with these moves!
When we left the wedding, Reagan was worn out so she and I went back to the hotel. Daniel and Grant decided to try to catch the last half of the SFA football game.
He got to break in his new jersey.
