Animal Behavior

Its our behavior (as humans) to strive to do what others can not achieve.  From inventing new products, to finding a cure for diseases.  In my son's case, he wanted to go to space.  He grabbed a new box that arrived at our house and started his mission.  When I put his father on the mission with him (with a roll of Duct Tape) things snowballed from there.  Here is Grant with his spaceship.  I dug through his winter clothes to find his old astronaut pajamas.

Inside was a light and even a lever for lift off.  He tried his best getting Reagan to pretend with him, but of course that didn't work.

Our dogs our outdoor dogs and somehow got through the back door and had a good old time while we were out for the afternoon.  They destroyed several pillows, a couple of blankets, and a bag.  It could have been a lot worse!

Any animal has the protective factor.  Grant is a great protector of Reagan.  Now that she is crawling, she looks out to make sure she doesn't get into anything she doesn't need to.  When she goes to the doctor, he makes sure to tell the doctor what Reagan likes and doesn't like.

Baby girl will be 8 months soon and it working on her 4th tooth.  Its definitely animal behavior to grow bigger, but why so fast?

Another human behavior is to hunt and to look 'cool'.  We did both a few weeks ago while visiting his grandparent's home in the hill country of Texas.

We took their Mustang convertible out for a sunset drive around the lake to look for deer which are very prevalent in the area.

Daniel is so much better at spotting the deer than I am.  Must be that hunting instinct.

We saw tons of deer and so many little babies.  Adorable.

To end on the title of "Animal Behavior", Daniel made an A in the class this summer by observing cattle.  One more year to go before he gets his masters!

Wordless Wednesday

Play date

We had VBS last week and it was, again, a lot of work but very successful.
Grant brought his friend Jase along.



The theme was superheroes. The capes and crowns for the story of Esther was a hit!















One day we took the boys to Chick fil A after VBS.



Grant and Jase are less then 24 hours in age!!

This past week we got to took Grant and his friend, Cade, out on a play date. Cade's dad and I grew up together at church and they just recently moved back into town. Cade and Grant ended up in the same class at school. He is a sweet boy!



We went to see Despicable Me 2 after a Chick Fil-A lunch.




Then of course they had to play a game or two.
They were really quiet on the way home. I looked back and saw Grant fully asleep. No wonder, he's the loud one!




The next day we went to Dallas to take Reagan to the doctor. Afterwards we went to try out the new Dave and Busters. We tried to keep Grant for seeing the games but of course that wasn't possible. Plus our meal ended up giving us free $20 worth of play!

Today I'm having a play date with the eye doctor. It never fails that I'm the youngest one here!! So I'm just sitting here getting some blog time in....squinting with my dilated eyes.

A Little Bit of Red, White, & Blue

Our Independence Day celebration began a day early with a real bang!

57 degrees...in July...in Texas!! My dream come true!

So we loaded up our gear at 6am and went fishing.

Fletcher and Grant both got some great casting practice in.

Me, I just enjoyed my view and thought of all the places I could live where it was like this every day in the summer.

The boys only lasted an hour because the fish weren't biting.

The evening, we had food and games at our church.  It was Reagan's first July 4th!

We were all decked out in out patriotic gear.

Reagan couldn't handle the excitement.

However she woke up just in time for the fireworks. Those things on her are glow sticks. Grant thought she needed to be covered in pink bracelets!

He next day, the actual 4th, we went out to our friends home. Reagan and Abigail had fun the the kiddie pool. Here is Abigail trying her hardest to keep that colander on Reagan's head.

6 months difference in age.

These boys had the best time. They were showing off the Cheetos they got.

Again, Reagan couldn't handle it and slept quite well.

We had tons of glow sticks that we made into all sorts of things while waiting for the fireworks to begin.

Wrapping up June

I feel like I haven't even been home this month, although I know that would be a lie.  Its just been going non-stop since school was out.

Daniel went out of town for several days and Grant was a great helper.  He thinks it so neat when he gets to hold Reagan.  She looks little scared in this picture...

Grant's 3rd year of swimming lessons started mid-June.  

Vivian took the same class with us, this is her first year.

This is Grant and his friend Corbin.  They have been in the same class every year.

 Reagan also got some pool time.  She enjoyed her first swim in a big pool.

This past week, we also prepared for a garage sale. We sold tons of glassware. So much, in fact, that we just laid it on the lawn and hosed it off.  Ginger, my parents cat, didn't know what to think about it.

Grant sold drinks at the garage sale and I told him he could keep all the profits.  I kept trying to teach him the basics of marketing, but he wouldn't listen.  But when business started to pick up, he yelled "Drinks for sale!"  until we had to tell him to stop!  He made just enough to buy the toy he wanted.

He was proud of his money, that we kept in this coffee can.  As you can see, he had grips of steel on it!
