Back to Nac: Part 2 - The Homecoming

This past week a cool front came through and homecoming for our school and our university was underway so you KNOW its pretty much fall by now!

 

All the festivities started on Friday.  Grant got to see a firetruck and some firemen at school with his Aunt Laura.

Daniel and I participatedin the pep rally.  He had dress as a homecomign queen for a relay race in one of my old dresses.  He moved to fast to get a good picture though!

Friday night we went to Nacogdoches for their homecoming festivities.  Unfortunatley we were running late and missed the bonfire.  We did get up early for the Alumni Flapjack Breakfast at our hotel, the Fredonia Hotel. 

 

 

 This hotel hosts all types of activites for the almuni, including picture opportunities with the lumberjack and the cheerleaders.

 All the cheerleaders couldn't get enough of Reagan in her uniform.



After "eating like a Lumberjack", we headed to the homecoming parade. Reagan was all snuggled with her unicorn in her stroller.

Vivain sat with Daniel and just HAD to borrow my shades.

Its been 10 years since I graduated.  It was a great 3 1/2 years I lived here.  Most beautiful in the fall with the pine trees.

After the parade, we went to meet up with more of our friends at the Christian Student Union where Daniel and I met.  There are many kids around Grant's age so they got a boune house for them.  He loved it!

Grant and Daniel attended the football game while Reagan and I rested at the hotel.  Nothing like a sunburn in October.

Saturday, we also tried to hit up all our places we love to eat in Nacogdoches. 

Java Jacks is one, for their Java Shake.  Its a milkshake with Blue Bell ice cream and coffee.  Yum!

That evening we worshiped with our friends, like old times.  I love how you can not see some friends for a long time and then just pick up where you left off.  Those are the kind of friends I love!

We ended our trip Sunday with this...got to love the iPad and YouTube!

Things are continuing to be hectic while we are in the midst of our remodel.  I'm ready to get back to normal!  This is the first weekend we have been home since it began so we tried to keep ourselves as busy as possible.  It was also a 4 day weekend due to the Columbus Day holiday.

Saturday afternoon is when the rain started and as of today (Wednesday) we still haven't had a sunny day!  The clouds that came with the rain and the cool front and it gave some nice scenery on the way to a birthday party.

The kids at the party didn't let a little rain stop them from using the bounce house!  Grant and his friend Cade put gloves and hats on to 'keep from getting wet'.

Grant came home that evening with 2 balloons from the party.  I told about the time in elementary school when my whole class tied notes to balloons and let them go, in hopes someone would find the note.  It was along the lines of a message in a bottle.  He begged for us to do that same...so then our next activity began.

More rain came in that night, so I'm not so sure my ink pen written note would have be legible even if it was found.  Next time I'll have to laminate it!

Sunday night I had a date night with both of my boys.  First, we visited the West End in Dallas for the Spaghetti Warehouse.  

I know why someone invented undershirts....they are large napkins for messy people!  Grant loves spaghetti but always gets it all over himself.

After dinner, we visited the State Fair of Texas to see "The Lion King".  We rode the trolley from our car and you would have thought be Grant's reaction that THIS what the fair was all about!  He kept yelling, "This is awesome!" and making those around him giggle.

We've had the tickets to the play since May and kept it a secret this entire time.  Once the secret was revealed, I think Grant thought we were seeing the actual movie.  Boy, was he ever wrong.

He ended up getting  a stuffed 'Pumba' and carried it around the whole night.

After watching the WONDERFUL show we walked around the fair grounds, even though everything had closed.

We ended up getting taking a longer walk than expected back to our car.  Thanks to that kind Dallas PD officer for picking us up on his golf cart!

My Lil' Pumpkin

Reagan is now 10 months old. She has 6 teeth and is working on 2 more. She loves watching "Peppa Pig" and Elmo. She loves her brother most of all.


She talks babble and can take about 2 steps without help. She is a speed demon when crawling, especially in a place she knows she shouldn't be.


Her hair looks red in pictures but it's a light brown. It's growing over her ears. She no longer wants baby food at all. She wants grown up food. So now she is trying all sorts of foods. She is partial to her "Yo Baby" yogurt and Cheerios.


She rarely sleeps all night. Sometimes she only wants mommy. Bath time is her favorite time.



Plans for the 1 year birthday party are in place!

Kicking off Fall

This weekend we went to visit my brother and his family.  Fletcher had a basketball game and we went to cheer him on.

Afterwards, we ate Rosa's Tortilla Factory.

 As always, Grant was ready to be back with his "cousin brother".

These two cousins cracked us up.  Reagan would be all over the place and Claire would be content just watching her.  Reagan does this thing we call 'tiger mode'.  She claws at things with force.  She went into tiger mode with Claire and did not fair well!  Poor girl screamed her head off then Reagan would smile at her. 

The cool front came through in the evening, just in time for some BBQing.

Reagan has totally given up on baby food.  She is interested only and grown up food...and yogurt.  Notice her "YoBaby" yogurt mustache.

We ended the trip at the park.  Daniel must have been ready for this weather as well.

All About You - Time Filler

My bedroom is now considered the 'hub' of the house while in this remodel.  So I'm sitting here with nothing to do until it is time to go to school.  Decided to blog a bit, about nothing!

1. How do you eat your burger?
With everything and mayo.  Even avocado if I want to splurge.

2. What's your favorite characteristic about yourself?
I'm generally pretty cheerful....which is actually what my name means in Latin.  I've been told by others I "smile too much" or am "too perky".  Really, is that even possible?

3. What time period from the past would you like to live in?
The 1940s and 1950s.  Life seems so much simpler back then.  Fashion and music was interesting. 

4. What actress would be cast to play you?
Kaley Cuoco from "Big Bang Theory".  My husband has a thing for her, I believe!

5. What was your first car?
1991 Chevy Cavalier

6. What's one product you hope is never discontinued?
Aussie Extreme Hold Gel.  Its the one gel I've found to keep my hair curly.

7. What was high school like for you?
I never remember studying and still got in the top 10% of my class.  I was busy with band, youth group, and clubs.

8. Do you believe in ghosts?
It depends on the story being told.

9. What would your dream house look like?
It has a huge porch, a walk in closet, a jetted garden tub, and a live in maid.

10. When did you have your first beer? Did you have more than one?
Not sure when, but no way did I even have more than one sip.  My palate can't stand beer.

11. What is your least favorite word?
The "N" word.  I hear it used so often at school as a non derogatory word.  I don't understand how that word could be used in general every day language.

12.  Do you have any pets?
2 dogs, 1 cat

13.  What was the last book you read?
"The Help"

14.  Do you like to cook?
I like to bake

15.  Are you a beach, country or city person?
Definitely not a beach person.  I teeter between the country and the city

16.  What could you do as a child that you can't do now?
a cartwheel.  I tried doing it the other day and nearly broke something!
