Fun and Games

As usual, people ask "What have you been doing this summer?"  I answer with a confused face.  Our calender has been full to the brim with all sorts of activities.

If we don't have anything, you can find us lounging eating popsicles or snow cones.  Reagan likes sharing them with her brother.

We went to visit Daniel's family last weekend.  We had a good game night of Twister and a card game of Hands and Feet.  An interesting card game if you've never played it.

We are now half way through with our summer program of Tae Kwon Do.  Grant got to lead chanting one day, and work on his kicking.

You can't see it well in this picture, but he was messing quite a bit with his loose tooth in front of the mirrors.  We discovered it was extremely loose before this class.

After class, we worked on it some more and Daniel pulled it right out.  Grant was so proud!

Later that night we went for a celebratory snow cone, in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle flavor.  On the way, Grant suggested we ask for a free snow cone because we were celebrating a big event.  It made his coupon loving Daddy really proud!

The tooth fairy came that night and gave him some money and a receipt for the tooth. We made a Wal-Mart run later that week to get what he wanted.

Side note:  We also discovered this week that Grant would make an adorable worker at What-a-burger. He's pretending to hold an ice cream.

VBS was all week long.  Daniel ran games and was the handsome "Mr. Noseinbook"

I was head of crafts again.  I guess I'm trying to keep Grant in line in this picture.

 Daniel and I attended the Rotary Club banquet where we won two awards for our work with the Interact Club.

 I attend Bunco once a month with some fun ladies.  It was at Vanessa's house this time and she got us all pink mustaches.  We had a silly time.

 We joked that Debbie looked like the guy from the Monopoly game, haha.

 

Uncertain Road Trip

This weekend we traveled to a small, and I mean small, East Texas town of Uncertain.  It is located almost to the Louisiana border.

We stayed in a quaint cabin that was beautifully decorated and housed 6 adults and 3 rambunctious children. 

Daniel was the early riser both mornings, so he was kind enough to throw himself on breakfast duty.

  Cypress trees covered in Spanish moss cover the entire area.  

 Saturday morning we attempted to fish off this awesome 2 story pier.

 It didn't last too long because of the heat.  We opted for some pool time instead.

 Someone kept having wardrobe malfunctions!

 Inside was nice and cool, so we played games...

 and stuffed our faces.

 Saturday afternoon, we headed to Jefferson.  They have a general store there full of everything you didn't know you wanted!  Daniel and I are showing off our bottled drinks.

No road trip in the south would be complete with stopping for a fried pie.  Nice!

One thing I thought was so funny about this trip was that this area is known for Sasquatch sightings.  Daniel and Grant watch those crazy Bigfoot shows on TV all the time.  In fact, I just got this for Daniel's truck this past week.

Then when we are almost to our cabin, we see this:

Daniel and I died laughing!  We stopped to take this pictures and Grant yelled, "Hurry, back out!  I saw something black, large and hairy!"  He sounded semi serious...but then we saw a wooden cut out hidden on the property.  All weekend we teased Grant about going sascawatch hunting.  He told us to bring him back when he was 8 with his gun and he'd get us some bigfoot bacon.  Haha, good plan!

Tae Kwon Do

Grant had been waiting for this week for a while now.  Ever since he went to a party at the Black Belt Academy, he has been ready for Tae Kwon Do.  We are lucky to have a great school in town with some excellent teachers, and friends of ours!

He looks so handsome in his uniform.  I'm still learning how to properly tie the belt.  Thank goodness for YouTube!

 I guess all that play sword fighting we do really did pay off, he did quite well!

He has already informed me that he wants to continue this until he is older so he can teach little kids Tae Kwon Do.

Grant's 1st Rangers Game

We got an email a few weeks back about the SFA Alumni Association having seats at the Rangers game for a discount.  They were also in the all you can eat section, under the home run porch.  We decided this would be a great opportunity to take Grant to his first Rangers game.  We took our friends Eric and D'Ana with us.

 All you can eat chips and cheese?  This made Grant one happy boy!

 Halfway through the game, he got a little bored so we let him stand up for a bit.

 The Rangers were losing horribly to the Astros, so we went to the kids play area.

 Daniel relaxed in the a/c while Grant played.  It was the hottest day of the year so far.

Pirates and Pixies

Vivian turned 4 this past week and her party theme was Pirate and Pixies (because she loves the Peter Pan story).

 My brother always knows how to liven a party!

 We ate 'fish and chips', 'peg legs', 'gold nuggets' and 'cheesy hooks'.
